What a great time Yoko, Katie, Chip and I had exploring Alaska, for about two weeks from the end of May until mid-June. We started with a long travel day from Virginia to Seattle to Anchorage, AK. Masks were still required on commercial airline flights, so we had to keep them on for the duration of flying, except for eating or drinking. But it was worth it to see our 49th state, at least part of it!
Alaska is our largest state and it takes time to see it. There are only a few major roads, and to get to some places you have to fly in, or else snowmachine (snowmobile), or dogsled in when there is enough snow on the ground in winter. Of course, you can always hike to a place too, but count on backpacking and camping because nowhere you’d want to go is likely to be close by. There is also travel by boat or cruise ship, and we took advantage of that when we were in Seward, on the coast.
I’ll be putting out content about our travels in separate posts over the course of a few weeks. You’ll be able to find corresponding photos and video on our website http://ArtistsEyeImages.com
Our first adventure started with a float plane tour of the Denali National Park and Preserve area, starting out from Lake Hood in Anchorage, AK. I’ve created a PDF flip book with essay and photos that you can see here:
