I was away last week participating in a “boutique” bicycle tour of parts of Florida organized by BikeFlorida.org . It was 6 days of riding starting in St. Augustine, and then down the east coast past New Smyrna Beach. Then we peddled inland and north along the St. John’s River. Finally we completed the loop by riding back to St. Augustine. We averaged about 40 miles a day, for a total of just under 250 miles. It was a group of 17 riders and 4 staff people who took care of us. It was a very interesting and diverse group of people. One chap came over from England. Others were from Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Illinois, and other states. We stayed in nice hotels and ate at good restaurants along the way. We even had a dedicated bike mechanic who fixed any flats or mechanical problems and even filled our tires with air! There were also some side excursions to places of interest. All in all it was a fun time, good exercise, and an interesting way to see a different part of Florida. I recommend their tours.
Also, last week Yoko was triumphant in her first half marathon run at the Richmond Marathon on November 15th. Way to go, Yoko !!
Have a great Thanksgiving !
